Freelancing Creative production
2025 - present

I currently freelance for publishing houses, and am working on scholarly articles with my master’s supervisor.

Electric Book Works Production assistant
2023 - 2024

I was promoted to Production Assistant, and in my subsequent role my primary responsibilities were to execute a wide range of content-related work to company standards, further improve my book production knowledge and skills, and to contribute to in-house projects. I contributed to the production of CORE books and Global Initiative projects, and assisted with updating projects such as Measuring the Economy. I managed distribution of Bettercare books, which is where I learned much of what I know about communication with distributors, coordinating both direct and online distribution channels, and requesting and submitting invoices. I edited the How Books are Made podcast, which was a finalist in the SA Podcast Awards. I conducted research for the podcast, and formatted the accompanying show notes. I continued to work in quality assurance for proofreading, edited marketing materials and book covers, and completed training sessions in typesetting, digital artwork creation, and systems of metadata management.

Electric Book Works Intern
2023

As an intern at the publishing studio, Electric Book Works, I learnt about the process of producing books and websites. I worked on a variety of tasks alongside other team members, such as producing multi-format books using Github and Gitpod, creating artwork for these publications using the Adobe suite, and editing marketing materials for clients.

Institute of Paint Management and Training Assistant
2022

I was a remote assistant at the Institute of Paint Management and Training. I analyzed tenders, prepared documentation, tracked project progress, and managed client communications.

University of Cape Town Part-time lecturer and tutor
2020 - 2022

I tutored and lectured part-time in the Film and Media department at UCT, tutoring first, second, and third years, and lecturing third years. taught film theory and journalism. I graded papers, conducted classe planned original course material, and gathered resources for classes. I wrote letters of recommendation for students pursuing postgraduate studies and helped students plan their curricula.

Submitted my master’s dissertation in April 2023, and graduated with distinction (82%) and was awarded a merit-based departmental scholarship.

2020 - 2021

Graduated in February 2021 with distinction (81.7%) and was awarded a merit-based departmental scholarship.

University of Cape Town Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Film and Media Studies
2017 - 2019

Graduated in March 2020 with distinction (79.3%). Accrued several class medals in various courses and was consistently on the Dean’s Merit List. Was a class representative for film, a member of the Golden Key Societ and a member of the Film Society.
